Translucent concrete, or light-transmitting concrete, is a building material that contains optical elements, such as optical fibers, to allow light to pass through. This material is commonly used in fine architecture for façade and interior wall cladding. It can also be used for various design products.

There are several methods for producing translucent concrete, all of which involve adding light-conducting elements (about 5%) to fine-grain concrete (about 95%) during the casting process. After setting, the concrete is cut into plates or stones using standard machinery for cutting stone materials.

However, light transmission is generally less than half the incident light on the fibers due to bends in the fibers and roughness on the cut surfaces. This results in a roughly 2% transmission rate. Despite this, it still provides useful daylighting, as the human eye responds to light non-linearly.
