DOUGRAMEJI Family Home – A Mediterranean-Inspired Bathroom Transformation
We renovated three bathrooms in the Dougrameji family home in Oxnard. The family wanted Mediterranean detailing — Levantine tilework and stone — in rooms that still work like modern bathrooms.
All three were designed and built together, so the tile, stone and fittings read as one scheme across the house.
Project Specifications:
• Front Bathroom: 55 square feet
• Middle Bathroom: 45 square feet
• Master Bathroom: 85 square feet
• Ceiling Height: 9 feet
The tilework is the centre of each room. The fittings were chosen to stay quiet around it.

Middle Bathroom
The smallest bathroom in the project, the Middle Bathroom, has a total area of 45 square feet. The original bathroom lacked lighting and ventilation windows. The shower area was an old bathtub that was narrow, dark, and had access issues.
The following improvements were made:
A custom-made shower area was preferred over a bathtub.
Artificial skylight lighting was installed on the ceiling of the shower area to create the illusion of a larger ceiling height.
A narrower, modern corner vanity with wall hangers was installed instead of the old vanity.
A mirror was installed above the vanity, and a two-inch deep gap was added behind the mirror, where LED strip lighting was installed.

30” x 59” wide MADOX GRIS PORCELAIN TILE was used for both the walls and floors. LATICRET epoxy grout was used for the joints. Wyze brand lighting solutions were chosen.
Front Bathroom
The Front Bathroom, a medium-sized bathroom with a total area of 55 square feet, retains its original bathroom window. However, the shower area was narrow, dark, and had access issues due to an outdated shower tub.
The following improvements were implemented:
A custom-made shower area was constructed, replacing the shower tub.
Vertical porcelain tiles were applied to the shower ceiling to create the illusion of a higher ceiling height.
A narrower, more contemporary vanity table with wall hangers was installed, replacing the old vanity table.
A smart medicine cabinet mirror with fog protection and lighting was placed above the vanity table.

ADEX USA BRISSA porcelain tiles, measuring 5.5” x 6.3”, were utilized for both walls and floors. LATICRET epoxy grout was employed for the joints. Wyze branded lighting solutions were selected for the installation.
Master Bathroom
The MASTER BATHROOM, the largest bathroom in the house, was renovated with a total area of 85 square feet. The original bathroom window was removed, and a high and wide concealed window was installed. The narrow shower area and the unused bathtub were removed, and the two spaces were combined.
Improvements made to the new shower area include:
A custom-made shower area was constructed in place of the shower tray.
The ceiling height was lowered, and the light from the new high window was reflected to illuminate the shower area.
At night, LED STRIPE strips were aligned with the glass to provide a daytime effect.
The shower side walls were coated with VENICE PLASTER to harmonize with the rest of the house.
The project was completed with a custom-made wide shower glass wall and gold accessory details.
